Hearth

by Bloom Woolens Yarn

Introducing Bloom's heartiest yarn, a breed-specific wool made from 100% Cheviot fiber from York Farm in Shelburne, MA. From the heart of the Western MA Fibershed region, Hearth is the yarn to use for the warmest hats, mittens and sweaters....so you and yours are prepared for the coldest of the New England weather. Need some water resistance while doing farm chores or out for a brisk walk?  These generous skeins with over 4 oz of bulky weight wool have you covered!  We recommend knitting in front of a warm fire while the snow swirls....while perhaps a colorwork cardigan or flies off your needles!

Hearth is organically dyed (O) with GOTS-certified organic pigment. (S) indicates natural sheep color.

The GARDEN PARTY colorway is dyed one skein at a time and each is One of a Kind.  We use dye plants from the Bloom Homestead Garden...marigold, dahlias, salvia, japanese indigo, cosmos, dyer's coreopsis, and black knight scabiosa...to create magical bursts of color.

Cheviot wool is unique with its helical structure. It's crimp follows the same intricate spiral as our DNA. What does this mean for yarn?  This special crimp makes for a bouncy, airy arrangement of fibers that holds more warmth, especially when woolen-spun - which is exactly what we did!  Spun at Bartlett yarns in Harmony, Maine on the last remaining spinning mule in the country, Hearth is a hard-wearing 3-ply yarn that knits up lovely, light and strong.
