Sew It Up

Saturday November 9th, 2pm-4pm. This class meets once.

Take the fear out of sewing knit pieces together. Linda will teach you the mattress stitch, the backstitch, the fake kitchener stitch, the real kitchener stitch.

We will also discuss what to do when you are knitting to make the sewing process even better.

Homework before class: You will need to make swatches before the class so that you have some pieces to sew up.

Using worsted weight yarn and size 8 needles
Swatch #1: Cast on 20 sts and work in stockinette stitch until the piece measures 4". Bind off loosely.
Swatch #2: Make the same way as #1 but don't bind off- leave the stitches on the needle.
Swatch #3: Cast on 20 sts and work in stockinette for 3", work the last 1" in garter stitch (knit every row) Bind off loosely.
Swatch #4: Make the same way as #3 but don't bind off - leave the stitches on the needle.
