Yarn and Gauge

Wednesday November 6th and 20th.  10:30am - 12:30pm (Must know how to knit)

Materials: Plymouth Encore Worsted in a light color, about 100 yards, size 8 needles.

Do you ask yourself "What yarn should I use for this project?" OR "What is the deal with gauge and why is it important?"

This class explains the information on yarn labels, including yarn weights, fiber content and SUGGESTED needle size. We will discuss types of fibers, how they act when knit and why combining fibers can produce a fabric that is just what you are looking for.

The class will provide an understanding of gauge and how it affects you knitting and why it is soooo important.

Everyone will knit a swatch or two using the same yarn and needle size. Using your own gauge swatch we will review a little "swatch math" to see why both stitch gauge and row gauge are important.
