A class to learn and/or enhance understanding of sock knitting using fingering weight yarn and either a basic rib pattern or a pattern with a bit of texture.

Prerequisites: Must know how to cast on, knit, purl, slip stitches, k2tog and ssk. Must be familiar with knitting in the round using double pointed, magic loop, two circular or 9" circular needles. This is the class to learn a new method if you are familiar with only one. Understanding your own gauge issues (knit tight or loose) and basic sock anatomy is helpful.

German twisted and/or ribbed cast on
Anatomy of a sock: leg, heel flap, heel turn, gusset, foot, toe
Pick up and knit
Kitchener stitch
Sizing socks by increasing/decreasing number of stitches cast on and adjusting the heel turn based on number of stitches cast on

In this class, we will discuss foot measurements and fit using measurements before knitting and again with our completed socks.


Skill Level: Intermediate
Skill Details: Knitter can cast on, knit and purl and has a bit of experience with double pointed needles, or is highly motivated.
