Our annual Knitting retreat at Cape Cod is scheduled for March 6th, 7th, and 8th. Meet at the Hampton Inn in West Yarmouth on Friday night and spend the weekend with Linda and Co. creating a colorwork yoke which you will then turn into a sweater! Fun, Food, Laughs and lots of knitting instruction!

Haruno Cardigan

Haruno Cardigan
Haruno cardigan is a raglan jacket worked from the top down. The yoke is worked back and forth with raglan increases to the underarm. Then, the back is worked longer than the front using German short rows, and a decorative braid is added. The number of stitches is then increased in one go to knit a lace pattern to the hem. The sleeves, set aside at the underarm, are worked top down in the round. The cuffs are bind off, adding a chain looking like a braid.

Top down and in the round construction is one of the most popular ways to knit a sweater. You will learn all the skills necessary to knit this sweater in a child size even if you don't have a child to knit for. Think of this as a prototype learning piece. Everything about this comstruction will then translate to an adult size sweater. This class will meet 3 times.

Next Steps in Knitting
This class meets twice. After taking the Learn to Knit in Three Hours class, you will be ready for this class. Susan will introduce new knitters to several popular and necessary pattern stitches as the knitter works towards creating a stitch pattern scarf. Learn a basic rib, textured rib, stockinette stitch, seed stitch, double moss and garter stitches.
