How to Make Yarn & An Overview of Fiber

Have you ever handled raw cashmere, yak, bison or bamboo? How about Tussah silk? Learn about different fibers and how they are blended to make beautiful knitting yarns. North Light Fibers will demonstrate how handcrafted minimally processed yarn is produced through a virtual tour of the North Light Fibers' Micro Yarn Mill located on Block Island, RI. Hands on demonstrations will allowyou to understand why steaming yarn and eliminating guard hairs are very important to making world class yarn. And then you will see why we are carrying this beautiful, locally made yarn in our store!

Local Yarn Store Day is a brick-and-mortar yarn shop appreciation day created by TNNA Yarn Group. The inaugural LYS Day will take place on April 21 and is designed to show support for small businesses while bringing together a unique community of knitters, crocheters, weavers and spinners to drive awareness and celebrate the craft.

Join us on April 21, 2018, as we celebrate LYS Day! (Local Yarn Shop Day)

We are going to have an exciting day filled with specials, food and prizes. Stop in any time from 10am-5pm and enter our prize drawing. Get a secret code from Plymouth Yarn and Casapinka and download free patterns from Ravelry. Get a super special half price on the Northampton Wools Shop Book. If you already own it, how about getting it as a gift for your favorite knitter? We will also be giving out free re-usable Northampton Wools Bags for as long as supplies last.

Lots of fun stuff going on, so please come help us celebrate!
