Ready, Set, Move!

On Friday the carpet should be installed, Comcast should be turned on and we will be ready to start the moving in process.

Of course we will be moving in without everything being finished, but I think we will be growing into the new location over the course of the next year.

In the meantime, here is the immediate plan:

Saturday night starting at 5pm we will be emptying the yarn bins. If you want to come and help then stop on by. It will only take a few people to load up the plastic bins full of the yarn in preparation for the move. This will allow the muscles to take down and reinstall the shelving units on Sunday.

Then on Monday we will need volunteers to help with the yarn bucket brigade. This should start at 1pm and will continue throughout the afternoon. If you have even an hour or two that would be a help. Call me , email me or atop by for further details.

Thanks, Linda

Almost Ready to Move

We are working hard to get the new home for Northampton Wools ready. We have already spent three weeks cleaning, cleaning and more cleaning, painting and more painting. Next will come carpeting and all new lights. A few final touches and the brand new space will be ready to move into.

On Sunday at 10am we are moving the first phase of the inventory from the cellar of 11 Pleasant St to the cellar of 29 Pleasant St. I will post pictures of the first yarn bucket brigade so that you can enjoy seeing it even if you couldn’t make it. There will be another chance for you to participate when we move the contents of the upstairs. Watch your email for when that will be.

I am so excited about the amount of room in the new space. My dreams are filled with ideas and plans for making the new Northampton Wools user friendly and knitter ready.

There is going to be a special place for a  little sit and knit and even a new coffee and tea service. I can’t wait to see it all in action, and I will keep posting as we make progress towards that day.

Thanks,

Linda

Shop Hop was Hopping Good Fun

shop hopThe first annual I-91 Shop Hop was really fun!

We enjoyed seeing many new faces and helping these knitters find their way around our shop. Hearing some of the stories about how hoppers were traveling made us smile! Thank goodness for the husbands that were willing to drive so that the serious work of knitting could be done. A few of the hoppers visited every store in one day, but the majority of knitters took two days to really spend a little time in each shop. The big reward for doing that was being able to eat lunch in downtown Northampton

We celebrated with a special edition of Barbie and Ken in their convertible. If you noticed, Ken was knitting and Barbie was doing all the driving. We were just trying to provide a little equal time to all the types of knitters.

If you didn’t participate this year, you  will be glad to know that the 11 shops have decided to do it all again in 2012. It will be held on the last week end in June ( the 29th and 30th and July 1st). Mark your calendars, save up your stash money and plan your attack because the next I-91 Shop Hop is going to be even better with a few surprises included!

Shop Hop In June

Have you been part of the buzz about the first I-91 Shop Hop? Do you have your Passport for this event stashed in your knitting bag? If not, then come on in and purchase your passport for just $5. This will give you all the directions and surprises as well.

Let me fill you in:

First, circle the week end of June 24, 25 and 26. Then call your knitting friends to arrange a caravan of some sort. Get your knitting needles warmed up, get your motor running and head out on the highway that week end to visit 12 of New England’s finest shops.  Visit each shop and you will be entered into a door prize drawing for that day. You don’t even have to be there to win!!

Visit every shop and get your passport stamped at each store and you will be eligible for the Grand Prize Drawing. Again, you don’t need to be there to win. The Grand prize Box already has over $1200 worth of knitting and fiber stuff and it continues to grow as we get closer to the date. Don’t miss this exciting kick off to summer knitting. Pick up your passport at Northampton Wools during regular business hours.

The DH turns 60 and you get the present!

100_3726.jpg

How is it possible that my DH is turning 60 in a few more days? Neither one of us can believe it, but there it is. He still makes my heart go bump- and he cleans up pretty good, right?

This is too big a birthday to go unnoticed so we have decided to celebrate with all our friends by having the biggest sale ever in the history Northampton  Wools.

100_1536.jpg

On Saturday, June 19th from 10am until 5pm we will mark specific yarns down by 60%. These special yarns will be in baskets on the floor and table in the store. These are not our regular sale baskets. These are yarns that we have decided to pull from the shelves and support with inventory from the cellar.

                 000_0020.jpg  100_1532.jpg

Mark your calendar and pull out those patterns you have been saving for just the right yarn. Bring them in on Saturday- ONE DAY ONLY- and get 60% off select yarns in baskets.

Because of the huge discounts on these yarns all sales are final and there are no returns allowed.

Plan on being at Northampton Wools early to get the best selection.

Happy Shopping,

Linda

SUPER SAMPLE SWEATER SALE

turquoise-boucle-sweater.jpg

October 6, 7, 8

Every once in a while we have a sale that demands attention. This Columbus Day weekend there will be one of those sales. Three racks of sample sweaters, some even from the pages of my book, will be at the lowest price possible for hand knit sweaters. There will be a rack of $35, $50 and $75 sweaters. There will be a rack of half price sweaters and you will be able to try all of them on. This is a once in a while opportunity to own a sweater that has been hand knit by Linda, KeriAnne, Decker or Margie at a price lower than the cost of the yarn it took to make it.

Sunday 1-5pm

Monday 1-5pm

Knot Your Neck

Have you got a bag or box of leftover novelty yarns that you probably aren’t going to knit? If you have made everyone you know several scarfs and you can’t bear to throw away the bits and pieces that are leftover then come to the store on Saturday, July 14 between 10am and 3pm and we will show you how to turn those leftovers into treasures with absolutely no knitting.

This is a technique that turns scraps into cool, mouth watering necklaces, and they are so easy to make even your grandfather could do it. (That’s not a bad idea, invite him to come along). We will have material and instructions and for $3 each you can make as many necklaces with our stuff as you can carry home. Or make just one to learn the lingo and then go home with this year’s gift giving already planned. KeriAnne and Robin took this class with Joanne Turcotte of Plymouth Yarn at the trade show and they will let you in on all the secrets to making a beautiful one of a kind, signature piece. Hope to see you there!
