Here we go again! This is a preliinary itinerary for the 2019 trip to the Edinburgh Yarnfest. The side trips may be moved to different days. If you do not attend the Yarnfest, it is considered a free day and you can do what you want. Linda will be trying to put together a few other activities. We will be in a different hotel than we have been in, but it is still near the Royal Mile. Breakfast is included every day.

Itinerary For: Pioneer Valley: Scotland & Ireland
Tuesday, March 19, 2019 - Arrive in Edinburgh
Upon arrival you will enjoy a sightseeing tour of Edinburgh. You will enjoy a drive around the city followed by a visit to the Royal Yacht Britannia, home to Queen Elizabeth and Her Royal Family for over 40 years. Now berthed in Edinburg, you can now tour this most unique Royal residence. You will see the Bridge, State Apartments, Crew's Quarters and the Engine Room. The majority of items on view are the originals. Next you will visit Rosslyn Chapel, dedicated to St. Matthew in 1446. The chapel is noted for the remarkable quality and variety of the carving inside. The entire chapel is covered in stonework of humans, plants and animals. The you will arrive at your hotel for checl-in. The balance of the day is free to relax. You will enjoy a Welcome Dinner this evening in your hotel.

Wednesday, March 20, 2019 -
Full Day Sightseeing in Glasgow
Today you will depart for the vibrant town of Glasgow, Scotland's second largest city located a scant 45 miles away. Glasgow had fallen on hard times in recent decades but has experience a remarkable revival and is now a vibrant city with a lively art and music scene and considered one of Europe "hip" cities. You will enjoy a drive around Glasgow and hear of its recent Renaissance as a thriving metropolis. You will have time for munch on own. You will then experience Riverside Museum. The museum is home to some of the world's finest cars, bicycles and in 2013 won the European Museum of the Year award. There are over 3,000 items on display from Glasgow's rich past. Berthe outside the museum is the Tall Ship, Glenlee, the UK's only Clyde-built sailing ship and is free to enter. Next you will enjoy the delightful Afternoon Tea at the beautiful, newly restored Charles Rennie Mackintosh Tearoom. Then you will return to Edinburgh.

Monday, March 25, 2019 - St. Andrews and Fife
Today you will travelScotland en route to famous St. Andrews. You will drive over Forth Road Bridge into the Kingdom of Fife. Here you will pass fishing villages strewn along the coast. Arriving at St. Andrews, you will enjoy a tour of this medieval town before having at least 3 hours of free time for lunch and to shop and explore on your own. You can view famed St. Andrews University, the oldest university in Scotland and where Prince William was a student. You will also see the most famous and revered golf course in the world, the Old Course of St. Andrews. Your journey back to Edinburgh will include scenic views and landscapes.

Following breakfast, you will transfer to the airport to board your flight to Dublin. Upon arrival, you will be met and taken to your hotel for check-in. The balance of the day is free to enjoy the delightful Irish capital on your own.

Wednesday, March 27, 2019 - Full Day Ireland Tour
The exploration of Dublin, immortalized by James Joyce, begins with a panoramic drive through statue-lined O'Connell Street and past Phoenix Park, the largest enclosed city park in Europe, home to the official residence of the President. Continue to view St. Patrick's Cathedral, the largest church in Ireland, dedicated to Ireland's patron saint. Next, on to Oscar Wilde's Trinity College where you see the magnificent 8th century Book of Kells, a superb example of early Irish manuscript illumination on display in the Old Library. You will have free time for lunch. 
Then you will visit the Guiness Storehouse. Located in the heart of the St James's Gate Brewery, Guinness Storehouse is Ireland's No. 1 Dublin tourist attraction. This historical building is central to Dublin's and Ireland's heritage, and has been continually updated to create a blend of fascinating industrial tradition with contemporary edge. The seven floors bring to life the rich heritage of Guinness, telling the story from its origins here at St James's Gate in Dublin to its growth as a global brand, known all around the world. Finish your visit at the Gravity Bar where you can enjoy a complimentary perfect pint of Guinness. Sit and relax while taking in the breathtaking panoramic views of Dublin city and beyond. This is a self-guided tour that generally takes about 1 1/2 hours. Then you will visit Jameson for a 40 minute fully guided distillery tour followed by a comparative whiskey tasting, and complimentary drink in JJ's Bar. You have a coach waiting to drive you back to your hotel.
